Tralee Project

 

UBU – Your Place Your Space project is a KDYS managed service funded under the Department of Children & Youth Affairs (DCYA) through Kerry Education & Training Board (KETB).

 

The service identifies, recruits and engages targeted young people aged 10 to 24 years of age in the Tralee area. The project aims to provide young person centred out of school supports to young people in their local communities to enable them to overcome adverse circumstances and achieve their full potential by strengthening their personal and social competencies.

  

Applications are invited for a:

 UBU Project Worker

Tralee based, One year Fixed Term Contract, 35 hours per week, 26 days annual leave, flexible working

The successful candidate will work with prescribed, targeted young people in the Tralee area to develop and deliver youth work programmes and supports.

Youth Justice Worker for Kerry Divisional Area

KDYS has a long history of developing innovative responses to the needs of young people that enhance their lives, their families, and the wider community. In partnership with the Kerry Gardaí, the service response is based on clear evidence of need informed by Garda crime statistics. The net result is that young people who are most in need of a service will get that service.  In 2019, KDYS further developed the KEY Service to extend to a limited delivery to children aged 8-11 years old. 

 

This project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.

Youth Justice Worker –

Kerry based, Specified Purpose Contract linked to Maternity Leave, 35 hours per week, 26 days pro rata annual leave, flexible working

 

The successful candidate will work with young people, their families, agencies, and the community in the Kerry Division to develop and deliver suitable interventions and supports to young people in the area as per the funding criteria. The project is funded by the Department of Justice and Equality and the European Social Fund.

 

Applicants require:

  • A relevant professional qualification in youth work, community work, family support, social care, social work, childcare, education, or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 2 year’s relevant work experience.
  • Experience in devising, implementing, and evaluating programmes/ interventions/responses for ‘at risk’ youth.
  • Experience in providing support for ‘at risk’ youth to take positive steps which would enhance their education and employability.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Full, clean driver’s license.

Support Worker for Ukrainian Families in KDYS Killarney & local area

Since April 2022, KDYS Killarney is now providing emergency accommodation for displaced Ukrainian families and as such applications are now invited for the following post:

 Support Worker

for Ukrainian Families residing in KDYS Killarney & local area

Killarney based, 6 Month Fixed Term Contract, 17.5 hours per week,

26 days pro rata annual leave, paid sick leave scheme

 The successful candidate will support displaced Ukrainian families residing the KDYS Killarney centre and local area, to develop and co-ordinate activities and supports in collaboration with local agencies and community groups.

Applicants require:

  • A relevant degree in youth work, community work, family support, social care, social work, or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience is desirable
  • Experience in working with children and families in a dynamic/engaging way using a variety of methodologies
  • Working knowledge of the barriers and issues experienced by refugees in Ireland
  • Proficiency in English, both written & verbal
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian/Russian language an advantage
  • Full, clean drivers license and access to own car is desirable
  • This post requires frequent evening and weekend work, a flexible approach can be explored

We are forming a panel of suitably qualified personnel who may be engaged to undertake short-term work with various programmes throughout the organisation.

Sessional Workers

are experts in their field and may be engaged to deliver specialist programmes through out the organisation.

 

Relief Panel

placement on our relief panel allows you to avail of short term pieces of work in various departments throughout the organisation – Youth Work, Youth Information, Family Support, Administration, Website/Social Media etc.

 

The benefits of being on the panel allows you gain quality work experience, build your professional profile, accept/decline work on your own availability, experience various aspects of the work as you develop your career and so much more!

Applicants should have qualification in own field or specialism, if applicable, strong communication and inter-personal skills, be flexible in approach to work, ability to work individually or as part of a team.  Experience in similar setting is desirable.

 

  • Rate of pay is variable subject budget and requirements of the duties undertaken
  • Placement on the panel is not a guarantee of employment

Youth Information Project Worker

We are currently recruiting a dynamic & motivated individual with excellent people skills for our Youth Information Service!

 

The successful candidate will assist in the development, production and delivery of information, guidance and support to young people, developing and delivering the KDYS Youth Information Operational Plan and working directly with young people to promote and develop a young person led youth information service which maximises opportunities for social and personal development and promotes youth mobility and citizenship.

One year Fixed Term Contract  –  35 hours per week  –  26 days annual leave
Paid sick leave scheme  –  Flexible working

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 1 years relevant work experience of Youth Work
  • Experience of engaging young people using digital tools.
