Bernadette Costello

Trustee

Having qualified as a Post-Primary Teacher I have spent my professional life working with young people at primary, secondary and third level. I was privileged to have had the opportunity to work and study in the USA for 10 years. Following graduation from the Jesuit University of San Francisco with a Ph.D. in Education I was assigned to Moyderwell  Secondary School in Tralee as Principal. A position I held for 20 years, sowing seeds for the future!!!

Since joining the Board of KDYS in 2006 I have been an active member. Notwithstanding ongoing challenges, I believe KDYS is a very strong, progressive organisation with young people at the centre. I remain committed to connecting with youth, working on their behalf and supporting them to reach their full potential, find expression and blossom forth.  At present, I serve on the BOM of Mercy Mounthaw, a  Secondary School with an enrolment of 1300+ students.

I enjoy reading, outdoor activities and volunteering in other areas of life in general.
