KDYS Young Social Innovators 2015/2016

Social Innovators puts an emphasis on creative thinking and action for the well-being of people and society. We have chosen 6 students in Transforum Alley to take part in the “Young Social Innovators” competition this year. The title of our project is “Health Promotion Through Dance”.

The social issue being addressed is childhood obesity and through the project the    students will do the following;

  • Learn a dance routine (1minute 30 seconds)
  • Go out to a local primary school and teach the dance to a 4th class group
  • Research the area of obesity and children
  • Communicate their project through the media (local newspaper/local radio/Facebook)
  • Attend a “Speak Out” event in March where they present their project in front of approximately 300   other students
  • Submit a project report of 2,500 words

After the Speak Out event, the project teams will be shortlisted. If we make the short list, we will be invited to attend the Young Social Innovators of the Year Awards in Dublin next May. Each participant will receive a certificate with the possibility of winning an award in a range of categories
