So what is the Mentor Project Volunteer Programme about?

AIM:                To engage with young people through the provision of a carefully matched 1:1 mentoring arrangement, meeting weekly over the course of a year; wherein  an adult with life experience will role model for the young person who has less experience.

OBJECTIVES     Mentors will focus on helping the young person develop life skills and resilience, be positive and help set suitable but ambitious goals for life, progressing in a direction of positive life choices.

 What is a Mentor?

A mentor is enthusiastic, responsible, caring adult that can relate to young people.

A mentor seeks to support and enable a young person to gain the necessary skills and confidence to be responsible for their own development and fulfilling their potential.

 What does a Mentor Do?

A mentor commits time each week to meet up with the young person they have been matched with.  Meetings will take place within the community, initial within KDYS Youth Centres; sessions will be between 1-2 hours. Both mentors and young people volunteer to become part of the programme.

Full training will be given by KDYS
