Youth clubs are key to ensuring that the young people of Kerry grow up supported, healthy, happy, safe, connected and respected in their own communities but the benefits of youth clubs are not just for young people. Youth Club volunteers get a huge reward from the youth club, as well as making new connections in their community, volunteers learn to interact and connect with young people, grow their confidence due to taking on administration responsibility and gain a huge sense of pride for creating something that positively impacts on the lives of young people. Of course each volunteer is Garda vetted by the KDYS and undergoes a 10 hour training programme to ensure they are ready to work with young people. The youth club is also supported by a dedicated KDYS youth club support worker.
Currently the KDYS support 46 youth clubs in Kerry, that’s nearly 1 in every parish, you can find out which youth club is closest to you by looking at our map here
